Dia Quindici … Holy Cold and Windy Batman!

Part of Brunelleschi's amazing dome in Florence.
Fortunately we had warning that today would be cooler (about half the 30° C of yesterday) but the wind that could turn umbrellas inside out and shrink wrap our clothes around us was unforeseen. To be honest, we had a day of doing very little and spent most of it around the apartment. We left only to go and see the interior of the Duomo, which was less than expected because we could not get directly under Brunelleschi’s Dome to see all his frescos.

Dennis still has no coat, so we happily return home and drink espresso, read and relax. We are full of art, ancient sites, and pasta. A day to clear our palate is welcome. Since we will leave Florence tomorrow, there are new destinations to investigate.

And, we are finding two things frustrating. We have tried to download the video camera and the laptop says that its memory is full. Dang! (Not what I really said, or wanted to write!); and, we are out of clean clothes…despite the fact that we have a washer in our apartment the weather is not looking like it will allow for drying!

The very best of the day was skyping with our gang in Calgary. Malcolm has new teeth growing in the spaces that it seems just appeared a week or so ago. Lucas, in the middle of everyone chatting held up his hand and said, “Excuse me, I was talking!” OMG, he is cute. Sara had a wonderful morning with her boys and beautiful flowers from Phil & the little men in training, so great. It was a lovely Mother’s Day treat!
